Working Student / Intern — Software Architecture & Project Coordination, Infotainment (all genders)

Berlin
Reference: 2836478

Your Mission

MBition is bringing the automotive industry into the future by building a new generation of infotainment platform that is reusable and hardware agnostic, as well as its implementation into our actual car lines. By implementing interfaces that future drivers will engage with — from sitting in their cars, planning their journey, to choosing their favourite music and many more.
We are looking for a technically strong and highly organised student to sit at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and tooling — helping the team build the right things in the right order.

Sneak preview of your future tasks

  • Document architectural decisions and maintain technical reference material that the entire team relies on.
  • Track delivery progress across sprints — what has shipped, what is in progress, what is blocked — and make that status visible and actionable.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline health — monitor builds, investigate systemic failures, coordinate fixes with developers.
  • Automate project workflows using Python, GitLab APIs, and workflow automation tools (e.g. n8n, custom scripts).
  • Prepare technical summaries, migration trackers, and status updates for cross-team alignment meetings.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams, repositories, and platform layers to keep the big picture clear.
  • Identify process bottlenecks, propose improvements, and implement them — not just flag them.
  • Contribute to specification documents and interface contracts alongside senior architects.

Your Profile

You are a motivated student enrolled in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Technical Project Management, or a comparable field, and you bring:

  • Technical literacy — You can read code in C++, Java, and Python. You don’t need to be an expert developer, but you understand software well enough to document architecture, review pipeline configs, and write automation scripts.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle — You know Agile/Scrum, version control (Git), branching strategies, CI/CD concepts, and how software moves from backlog to production.
  • Strong communication — You can explain a technical decision clearly in writing and verbally, to both engineers and stakeholders. English is essential; German is a plus.
  • Structured and organised — You can track many moving parts across teams, repositories, and timelines without losing details.
  • Python proficiency — You can write scripts for automation, data extraction, report generation, and API integrations.
  • AI as a productivity tool — You use AI-assisted tools for documentation, summarisation, analysis, and workflow automation, and you understand when to trust and when to verify their output.
  • Proactive and curious — You take initiative, spot gaps before being asked, and drive things to completion.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a tutor, teaching assistant, or student project lead — any role where you had to coordinate work across people with different skills and timelines.
  • A university or personal project where you set up a full development workflow from scratch: repository structure, CI pipeline, documentation, release process.
  • Familiarity with project management or documentation tools — Confluence, Jira, Notion, GitLab issue boards, or similar.
  • Experience with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, GitHub Actions, custom bots) — building automated processes, not just using them.
  • Writing experience: technical blog posts, architecture docs, wiki pages, or well-structured README files that other people actually used.
  • Exposure to systems engineering or systems thinking — understanding how components interact across boundaries, not just within a single service.
  • A thesis, internship, or coursework involving requirements engineering, software architecture, or process improvement.
  • Familiarity with API scripting (REST, GraphQL) for pulling data from tools like GitLab, Jira, or Confluence to build dashboards or reports.
