Reference: 2836469

Your Mission

MBition is bringing the automotive industry into the future by building a new generation of infotainment platform that is reusable and hardware agnostic, as well as its implementation into our actual car lines. By implementing interfaces that future drivers will engage with – from sitting in their cars, planning their journey, to choosing their favourite music and many more.
To fuel this mission, we are looking for ambitious, enthusiastic, and driven minds to help build the state-of-the-art software that pushes our innovation further.

Sneak preview of your future tasks

  • Design, implement, and maintain software components in C++ and Java across embedded and application-level environments.
  • Build user-facing features for in-vehicle displays, applying UI software design patterns (MVC, observer, state machines, component-based architectures).
  • Work in multi-threaded, real-time environments where performance, responsiveness, and thread safety matter.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following established design patterns and SOLID principles.
  • Configure and maintain build systems (CMake, Make, Gradle) and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
  • Write unit and integration tests as part of your daily development workflow.
  • Develop Python scripts and tools to automate development tasks, data processing, and workflow improvements.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to accelerate your work – code generation, debugging, documentation, and review.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives as a full member of the team.

Your Profile

Your Profile

You are a motivated student enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field, and you bring:

  • Multi-language programming skills – You are comfortable in more than one language. C++ and Python are essential; experience with Java, Kotlin, or scripting languages is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle – You know what it means to go from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and release. You have worked with version control (Git), branching strategies, and merge/pull requests.
  • UI and software design patterns – You understand patterns like MVC, observer, state machine, factory, and component-based design. You can recognise when and why to apply them, especially in UI software.
  • Build systems and CI/CD – You have built software from source using tools like CMake, Make, or Gradle, and you understand how CI/CD pipelines work (GitLab CI or similar).
  • Concurrency awareness – You understand threads, synchronisation primitives (mutexes, semaphores, condition variables), and why concurrent programming requires careful design.
  • Python proficiency – You can write scripts for automation, data processing, and tooling – not just academic exercises.
  • AI as a development tool – You use AI-assisted tools (coding assistants, code review aids, documentation generators) as part of your workflow and understand their strengths and limitations.
  • Proactive and curious – You work independently, ask good questions, and take initiative when you see something that can be improved.

Preferred experience and Skills:

  • A personal or university project with a non-trivial UI: a game, a dashboard, a data visualisation tool – something where you dealt with rendering, layout, state management, or animation.
  • Contributions to an open-source project, even small ones – shows you can navigate an unfamiliar codebase, follow contribution guidelines, and communicate through code.
  • A side project or coursework involving embedded systems, microcontrollers, or real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, QNX, bare-metal).
  • Experience with Android application or system-level development (services, AIDL, NDK).
  • Exposure to cross-compilation or building software for a target platform different from your development machine.
  • Familiarity with inter-process communication (sockets, shared memory, message queues) or networking protocols.
  • A hackathon project, thesis, or lab assignment where you had to profile and optimise performance – memory, CPU, latency.
  • Experience writing or maintaining a CI/CD pipeline from scratch, not just using one someone else set up.
