INTERNAL Domain Architect (all genders)

Your Mission

As Domain Architect, you will be responsible for the architecture of a subsystem domain or a topic focus area in our platform. You will also contribute to products built on top of it, including millions of upcoming Mercedes-Benz cars. We are currently searching for three domain architects in the area of Connectivity, Navigation, Software Update, System Stability, but also others domains in the area of infotainment.

Sneak preview of your future tasks

  • Work closely with and support teams of engineers within a domain or topic
  • Work closely with team of architects to align domain architecture and topic measures with overall system architecture
  • Analyze requirements and provide architectural solutions in the form of design ideas, schematics and detailed documentation
  • Review and improve architecture documentation artifacts generated by developers
  • Plan and help execute measures to reduce technical debt and complexity, including deprecation and removal of legacy technologies
  • Understand and apply latest technology trends within a field to subsystem architecture
  • Bring architecture concerns and measures to project planning by resolving dependencies, providing priorities, estimating effort and identifying capacity gaps

Your Profile

Education:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar field
  • Or equivalent demonstrated experience

 
 Primary experience:
 

  • Strong understanding of system and software architecture and design patterns involving building blocks such as multi-process architecture and IPC technologies
  • Significant experience in API design
  • Previous experience building automotive or other complex infotainment or consumer electronics products involving complex processes and multiple teams

 
 Nice to have:

  • Previously held responsibility for design and execution of architecture in a project
  • Experience with stakeholder and supplier communication
  • Experience with automotive process and safety standards, e.g. ASPICE
  • Experience working in large Agile projects

 
 Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent ability to analyze and break down complex requirements and technical problems and communicate about them in a clear, structured manner
  • Ability to produce architecture documentation artifacts, including high-level overviews, schematics and call sequences
  • Programming background, especially embedded Linux, C/C++
  • Experience with Yocto, RPM and other Linux build and packaging tooling and how to apply them in a system

 
 Additional skills:

  • Experience with QNX
